Stories are written by AI

Every story in Storytime Buddies is generated, at the moment your child requests it, by a large language model provided by Anthropic (the Claude family of models). Stories are original to your child's choices and are not written or pre-reviewed by humans.

How we keep it gentle

Every story request runs inside strict instructions that require warm, age-appropriate content with a clear happy ending and a gentle lesson, and that prohibit violence, peril, scary imagery, romance, brand names, and real people. Requests are also screened by the AI provider's own safety systems. If the typed story idea from an older child is unsuitable, the system ignores it and writes a wholesome story instead. If generation fails for any reason, a pre-written story is shown rather than an error.

Its limits, honestly stated

No automated safety system is perfect, and AI can occasionally produce odd or imperfect text. We design for the youngest reader and err on the side of caution, and we ask parents of our youngest users to enjoy stories together with their children, which is also simply the best way to use the product. What the AI receives

Only the story ingredients: chosen character, place, story event, reading level, and any typed idea. Never your child's name, age, or account details. Our AI provider does not use this data to train its models.

Narration is produced by your own device's built-in speech engine. No audio leaves your device and nothing is recorded.
